These are our champions. They were taken in because either they were living outside and distressed or because they were living outside, had kittens and were unneutered. They are all being socialized by people who care. Some of these wonderful creatures are trusting people faster than others. But some have had a harder life than others and may never become a cuddly lap cat. But they deserve a good life all the same and with people who understand them and love them for who they are.
They are over six years old and they have been vetted with spay/neuter, rabies, two FVRCP shots and microchip.
Our homing fee for these cats is reduced, as we want to see them get homes.
** HOMING FEE IS $50 **
Cowkie
Age: 9 yearsGender: FEMALE
🖤 Cowkie – Looking for the Forever Home She Deserves 🖤
Tuxedo DSH Female
DOB: July 3, 2017
9 year old
Spayed, vaccinated & microchipped
🏡 Her Story
Beautiful Cowkie has been waiting far too long for the right family.
She first came to ECWAR after one of our veterinary partners contacted us because her previous owners wanted to euthanize her due to litter box concerns. Thankfully, Cowkie was given the second chance she deserved.
With time, patience, and proper care, those litter box issues have been resolved.
Today, Cowkie is a happy, healthy girl. Her only little quirk?
She doesn't always cover her poop after using the litter box—but she has no issues with urinating outside the litter box and has been doing wonderfully.
Sadly, Cowkie has been adopted twice and returned through absolutely no fault of her own. We know her perfect home is still out there—we just haven't found it yet.
❤️ About Cowkie
Cowkie is a friendly, silly girl with a heart full of love. She adores affection and has the sweetest little habits that make her impossible not to fall for.
Her favourite spot is the high perch in the kitchen, where she'll happily supervise everything going on.
As you walk by, she'll gently stretch out a paw to remind you it's time for pets—and if you happen to forget, she'll make sure you don't for long!
Every morning, once you're awake, she'll come to your bed or nightstand to say hello.
She loves being petted, purrs loudly to show her appreciation, and has even grown to enjoy being picked up, rewarding you with the cutest little squeak.
Cowkie has low to medium energy and enjoys laser pointers, fuzzy balls, cozy naps, and spending time with her favourite humans.
She enjoys treats but is never pushy or greedy.
🐾 Her Perfect Home
Cowkie tolerates other cats but would be happiest as the only cat, or with a calm, respectful feline companion who understands personal space. We don't know how she is with dogs or children.
She's well-mannered around the home, uses her sisal scratching posts instead of furniture, and while she's curious about the front door, she isn't a door-darter.
Cowkie has had more than her share of disappointments. What she needs now is someone willing to look past a tiny litter box quirk and see the incredibly affectionate, loyal, and loving companion waiting underneath.
Could you be the family that finally gives Cowkie the forever home she's been waiting for? 🖤

Varus
Age: 10 years and 5 monthsGender: MALE
Vincent & Varus – Senior Twins Deserving Retirement 🐾🤍🩶
Grey & White Tabby Males | DOB: March 20, 2016 | 10 years old | Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped
### Their Story 🌧️➡️🏡
For roughly 10 years, Vincent and Varus lived outside together, cared for by a homeowner and the neighborhood. Brothers against the world.
In February, Varus came into ECWAR care very ill. Vincent was healthy and stayed behind until March. Varus had to have all his teeth removed and was placed on urinary food for life — Vincent is on it too, as a precaution.
Once Varus healed, the boys were reunited in foster care. You could see the relief. After a decade outside, they’re finally safe, together, and ready for retirement.
### Meet the Boys ✨
Personality: They have the potential to be the most grateful, loving heartbeats — given a chance 💛
Affection: Do not cuddle yet. Touch isn’t okay right now. One will lay openly on the cat bed when you enter, the other prefers his cuddle hut. Trust is a journey, not a deadline
Energy: Low 😴 They sleep all day. Active between 8pm-3am for food, grooming, stretches, and some solo play
Play Style: Independent. They’ll bat at toys on their own. If you initiate, you might get a swat or hiss — not aggression, just “we’re not sure yet” 🧸
Quirks: They snore 😹 The sound of safety
### The Perfect Fit 🏡
- Cats: A house cat slipped into their room unnoticed — they didn’t care ✅
- Dogs: A dog followed foster mom in. No reaction, just stayed in their cat tree 🐕
- Kids: Will likely regard them same as any adult — with caution at first
- Behavior: Shy, guarded. Need slow introductions. No expectations on timelines
- Litter Box: Perfect ✅
- Diet: Purina Pro Plan UR Urinary Tract Health for life. Prefer UR soft food, will nibble kibble. Varus has 9 teeth remaining 🦷
### Bonded Brothers 🖤🖤
Vincent & Varus are identical twins who survived 10 years outside together. They were separated for Varus’s health, and reuniting them was non-negotiable. They are bonded senior brothers and must be adopted together.
### Their Forever Home 🌟
A quiet home with someone who understands senior cats. They need:
- Patience: Progress won’t be measured in days or weeks. It’ll happen when they decide
- No expectations: Just an abundance of love and space to decompress
- Routine: Calm, predictable, and peaceful. Night owls welcome 🌙
- Understanding: They’ve never known indoor love. You’d be their first
Status: Senior Special Adoption Fee 🏠💛
We can see it — once these two make up their minds to trust that special someone, they will be forever bonded with that person.
They’ve earned their retirement. Ten years of surviving. Now they deserve to live.
Apply to adopt Vincent & Varus today and be the reason two old souls finally exhale. 📸
