Buddy is a healthy neutered male, born approximately in June 2021, with beautifully soft, short black hair and big green curious eyes.
He was trapped and brought into care just after Christmas on one of those -30 days, looking for warmth and food.
Although never spicy, Buddy certainly was not accustomed to human interaction. He still lets out a little hiss when you approach and startles easily, but quickly warms up, especially if you come bearing treats (temptations are his favourite). He will eat treats and canned food (favourite is fancy feast grilled chicken) out of your hand and is very gentle – no biting or scratching. He thinks pets are okay and seems to reasonably enjoy his head, cheek and shoulders being gently scratched but definitely bonds through play, enjoying strings, softballs and catnip-filled toys.
He is often found with a collection of toys in his favourite bed. He is currently in a small room with one other young cat rescued from the same area in Edmonton and appears to enjoy the company of a feline friend.
He has not met any other cats or dogs to date. He would need a home that understands his hesitancy, as his life from birth was clearly not easy, but takes joy in his continued achievements in socializing with people.
